Coronavirus / COVID-19 Statement
A New Year Note from CEO & Chairman, Robin Hutson
Dear friends of THE PIG
Another year has passed with countless twists and turns to keep us on our toes, not only across THE PIGs and Lime Wood, but across the hospitality industry as a whole. We started the year with our doors closed and bit by bit, month by month, a sense of ‘normality’ has been welcomed back to the hotels. By the end of spring, the majority of our teams were back doing what they do best; providing thoughtful and passionate hospitality to you, our supportive guests.
Though it’s been another challenging year, we have learnt to expect the unexpected, by embracing change and doing the best we can do in between the restrictions. During the summer, although we couldn’t have our full-scale festivals, Smoked & Uncut made a comeback popping up at THE PIG-at Bridge Place for the very first time with Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra headlining. We look forward to launching four new Smoked & Uncut festival dates in 2022 to make up for lost time! We have already announced, haven’t we!
September saw us finally opening the doors of our long-awaited eighth PIG - THE PIG-in the South Downs, in West Sussex. Our senior team and brand-new homegrown heroes have settled into Sussex very well and we can’t thank the support of the local community and suppliers enough. We are hoping that our own vineyard will yield some fruit next year and hope you can join us for a glass or two by 2023 – fingers crossed for some decent spring and summer growing weather!
As December has rolled around, it’s become clear that our fight against COVID-19 is far from over. We are so grateful to have been able to celebrate a Christmas with our doors open and to welcome in 2022 with so many of you. We are encouraging everyone and anyone who will listen to get the booster which hopefully will help keep everyone safe, will protect the NHS and at the same time ensure that the hospitality industry can keep its doors open and operating as close to normal as possible.
A final thank you personally to all of our friends, old and new, who have joined us in the past year across THE PIGs. Your unwavering support means so much to me and of course our fantastic hard-working teams. We look forward to welcoming you back for more 25-mile suppers in 2022!

What should I expect when visiting THE PIGs?
We are following the latest government regulations and guidance to keep our guests and team safe.
We want life across the litter to return to as normal as possible, however, our highest priority is the safety and well-being of both our guests and teams across THE PIGs.
In line with the latest Government guidance, all staff and guests will be required to wear face masks in public areas, unless eating or drinking in the bars or restaurants. Please note this is under constant review. We will have masks available to those who would like one.
You will be required to wear a mask during close contact services, e.g. treatments, unless this is a facial. We kindly ask that you either bring your own face covering with you or alternatively we are more than happy to supply a disposable mask for you.
Social Distancing & The Rule of Six
Both social distancing and the rule of six will be relaxed, which means you can book tables for over 6 guests from as many households as you like! Our communal areas will be free to roam as you please, and our bars will be open to order from if you fancy a change from table service and want to say hello to our friendly bar team!
We will be continuing to keep certain measures in place to do our part to help control the spread of the virus for the foreseeable future.
Extra cleaning regimes will carry on throughout the properties across rooms, communal areas, restaurants and Potting Sheds.
NHS Track & Trace check-ins will be available at reception, which are optional to guests.
Hand sanitiser points will remain around communal areas, should you wish to use them.
At this time everyone will be moving at different paces as we ease out of lockdown, and we want to remind everyone to treat both our teams and other guests with consideration over the coming months.
We ask that if you have tested positive or someone you have been in close contact with has tested positive for Coronavirus, you delay your visit to the hotels and contact our team on email@example.com to rearrange your visit.
Please note we will be keeping a close eye on Government guidance and will adapt to fit new requirements as necessary.
